On days we have class, I typically am available to consult individually with students for 30 minutes before or after my class day. I also regularly reserve a window at the end of each class period for brief one-on-one conferencing. If a student would like an extended one-on-one conference, arrangements can be made by emailing me at least 24 hours ahead of time.
I have found over the years that consulting and editing via email works quite well for interacting with writers outside of class. However, if there is a need for video conferencing, I can be available through Skype or FaceTime by appointment.
On days we do not have class, students are encouraged to ask questions and submit work-in-progress via email at any time Monday-Friday. I will answer any student email within 24 hours. Questions submitted on Friday may be answered on Saturday, but I do not answer student emails on Sundays. For REACH classes, I may not be able to answer questions submitted on Tuesday in time to complete homework for Wednesday classes. Students may submit work in .doc, .docx, .pages, or .pdf form, or they may invite me to edit through Google docs. Students may also submit general questions through the assignments blog on the EWCB website.
